Tensions Rise As North Korea Plans Ballistic Missile Test |
By: Matthew Bailey
North Korea had tested six short range missiles last week after carrying out a nuclear bomb test May 25th and before that North Korea launched what the United States Navy said was a long range missile that could carry nuclear weapons. According to South Korean media reports, the North Korean regime is preparing to launch at least three medium range missiles and a ballistic rocket.
South Korea has taken a direction of defense and have deployed a high-speed naval vessel. The warship is equipped with anti ship missiles and the vessel is equipped with missiles that can hit targets up to 140 kilometers away, and loaded with guns that fire up to 600 bullets per minute to the maritime sea border with North Korea amid reports the communist nation North Korea is preparing to test launch several medium range and a ballistic rocket/missile.
South Korea had previously held off joining the Proliferation Security Initiative in hopes of seeking reconciliation with North Korea. The underground nuclear weapons test spurred South Korea to join the United States led initiative and has further isolated North Korea.
The U.N. Security Council is looking to punish reclusive North Korea for its nuclear test which drew international condemnation.
