Dallas Texas - Many people are confused with the SOPA and PIPA bills are all about. Many of these folks were also blind sided by the black-outs over the Internet and had no clue to why it was going. Allot of folks had knee jerk reactions and some are playing on fears. Below are some ideas of which side folks are on, with this issue: SOPA And PIPA; Who Is For It And Who Is Not: If an individual have had their content stolen, that individual would be more than likely be for the SOPA and PIPA. SOPA and PIPA are meant to protect those who loose and have lost money due to digital theft. Theft of movies, music, content and more. If an individuals name or business name has been mis-used, that individual would be more than likely in support of the two bills as well, because it helps protect them too. If an individual is a digital thief or one who allows or would allow someone to steal from another, that individual would be against the bills. The bill would give authorities the ability to shut those individuals and organizations down. Some organizations are confused thinking that the United States Government is trying to shut Freedom of Speech down, but they are not. What the Government was attempting to do was put something into law that would follow up on existing laws. People are stealing from other people every second of the day and with-out some kind of handle, it will continue to carry on. The SOPA bills intention was to help law enforcement fight an ongoing battle of law enforcement and digital thieves. Digital thieves such as the recent MegaUpload.com website that allowed just anyone two sign up, pay a subscription and then download anything from the MegaUpload.com server they wanted. Experts say that a real number will not be put on how many people lost money by the MegaUpload.com website allowing individuals to download un-purchased content. MegaUpload.com is not the only website where digital thieves exist. It just like others were closed down and as soon as it could not be accessed, another had been set up and probably in another country other than the U.S. where the majority of movie content and such digital material originates. Which brings up the PIPA laws. The PIPA law is supposed to be another handle for law enforcement, not to close down REAL businesses and organizations that do not steal. I, as the writer am stuck in between the issue. I enjoy freedom of speech, but I get stolen from every day. When I found out that the black-outs were to happen, I was wondering why. Well I read the two bills and I am not seeing anything where it would impede on my freedoms. What I am seeing though is that it would strengthen laws to help battle the online theft and more. You can look at it the way you want but as long as people continue to steal, prices will go up and quality will indeed fail.
