United States announces new Iran sanctions

The United States imposes new sanctions on Iran, targeting banks and part of the elite Revolutionary Guards for allegedly supporting terrorism.

The United States government has labeled an elite unit of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps as "supporters of terrorism" as part of the latest set of sanctions on Iran.

The Guards are also labeled a "proliferationists of weapons of mass destruction", a reference to ballistic missiles that Iran is allegedly developing.

United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice made the announcement alongside the United States Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.

The classification will allow the United States to target the powerful force's finances.

The United States government has repetitiously accused the Iranian government of destabilizing Iraq and Afghanistan, blaming the Revolutionary Guards for supplying and training insurgents, and killing civilians and coalition troops.

Condoleezza Rice also warned the Iranian government that if they proceed down the road of confrontation, the United States and the International community will indeed confront Iran.

Army Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute says military draft is needed

Frequency of tours for the United States military forces in Iraq and Afghanistan have stressed the all volunteer force and made it worth considering a return to a military draft, President Bush's new war adviser Army Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute said Friday.

Several other United States Military Generals turned the job that Gen. Douglas Lute has now. None of the other generals wanted the scrutinized responsibility of doing the type of job that Army Lt. General Douglas Lute is doing. The decision was probably a tough decision for Douglas Lute to recommend the draft to the President.

There will be a great debate about the Lute recommendation to re-instate the United States Military Draft. Most people do not want it but others say they want safety. Do you think the United States should re-instate the military draft in order to provide defense?

Russian Role-back | Russian Roulette | Russia nuke sorties

Russia resumes nuke bomber sorties
Russia's strategic bombers have resumed their Cold War practice of flying long-haul missions to areas patrolled by NATO and the United States, top generals said on Thursday.
Russian Role-back
It seems as though Russia is rolling back the temp on the cold war. Russia just fired a what the Russian government called "A Test Missile" from one side of Russia to the other. Before that, the Russian government has for the most part taken over all major energy resources. The Russian government has shut the oil flow down on countries they say are due for a increase on the price of Russian oil or oil piped through Russia. Russia made allot billions on windfall energy revenues after that.

Russian Roulette Made Up All Over Again
Russia is buddy, buddy with Iran. Russia, Iran and Nukes doesn't sound pretty. I say wake up everybody. The only reason that we haven't found any "more" Russian weapons is because the Russian government doesn't want to be caught in another proxy war. Russia is going to get worse and worse until we end up evolved in another cold war.

What do you think about what Russia is doing these days? What do you think the missile tests were about? Can the world trust the Russian Government?

Iran Expands Uranium Enrichment (Nuclear) Effort

Iran announced a dramatic expansion of uranium enrichment Monday, saying it has begun operating three thousand centrifuges nearly ten times the previously known number in defiance of United Nations demands it halt its nuclear program or face increased sanctions. Russian officials are skeptical. Russians say Iranians are not that advanced, and are incapable of completing such tasks in such of a short time.

Make me/you wonder wether or not all of those tractor trailer type trucks went just before the United States parked a tank in the front yard of Saddam Hussein`s grand palace. Just like President Bush said, Axis of Evil, or he tried to tell us. Iran, North Korea, Syria and more, some have been taken off of the list since thanks to the courthouse of the United States Military and the United States Bush Presidential Administration political policy pressure.

United States - Pakistan -VS- Suprise Iran Operation

It is said that the United States has been secretly advising and encouraging a Pakistani militant group that has carried out a series of deadly guerrilla raids inside Iran by United States and Pakistani intelligence sources.

The suprise raids have resulted in the deaths or capture of Iranian soldiers and officials.

The group, members of the Baluchi tribe are operating from Pakistan`s gas rich province of Baluchistan, just across the border from Iran.

The only relationship with the group that United States intelligence acknowledges is co-operation in tracking al Qaeda figures in that part of Pakistan.

The group, called Jundullah, has produced videos showing Iranian soldiers and border guards it says it has captured.

The United States government sources that it did not identify as saying the United States does not provide direct funding for the group but has maintained close ties to its leader, Abd el Malik Regi, since 2005.

A CIA official said the account was not accurate.

Regi claims to have personally executed some of the Iranian captives.

"He is essentially commanding a force of several hundred guerrilla fighters that stage attacks across the border into Iran on Iranian military officers, Iranian intelligence officers, kidnapping them, executing them on camera," said Alexis Debat, a senior fellow on counter terrorism at the Nixon Center.

"He used to fight with the Taliban. He`s part drug smuggler, part Taliban, part Sunni activist," Debat told ABC.

The group took credit for an attack in February that killed at least 11 members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard riding on a bus in the Iranian city of Zehedan.

Iranian state television last month broadcast what it said were confessions by those responsible for the bus attack.

Pakistani government sources said the secret campaign against Iran was on the agenda when Vice President Dick Cheney met with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf in February.

Asked about the report, Cheney spokeswoman Megan McGinn responded: "We don't discuss conversations between the vice president and foreign leaders."

RE: British Hostages In Iran - 2007

Matthew wrote:

I'll just bet that Iran wants to put their new hostages on trial and then put them to death. Britain has a real problem on their hands. Iran is back in a corner and ready to strike at the British military moral at any time. If I where Tony Blair, I would send a secret group of men in and get those soldiers out of there and destroy the ship that Iran has impounded.

The day after I posted this, the Iranian President said that he was not going to put the hostages on trial although they where setting up trials for the hostages. Today the Iranian Leader said that the Iranian government is to release the hostages, and then pinned metals on the military members that took the hostages hostage.

British Hostages In Iran - 2007

For some reason, I have had the impression that on 4/11, something bad is going to happen somewhere, kind of like 9/11. Maybe it will be a bombing against civilians, or a murder of a high ranking Politician.

Later To al Sadr

The story tonight in Iraq is not the arrival of more U.S. troops, but the departure of one of the country`s most powerful men, Moqtada al Sadr and members of his army.

According to senior military officials al Sadr left Baghdad two to three weeks ago, and fled to Tehran, Iran, where he has family.

Al Sadr commands the Mahdi Army, one of the most formidable insurgent militias in Iraq, and his move coincides with the announced U.S. troop surge in Baghdad.

Sources believe al Sadr is worried about an increase of 20,000 U.S. troops in the Iraqi capital. One official told ABC News' Martha Raddatz, "He is scared he will get a JDAM [bomb] dropped on his house."

Sources say some of the Mahdi army leadership went with al Sadr.

Though he is gone for now, many think al Sadr is not gone for good. In Tehran he is trying to keep the Madhi militia together.

In recent months al Sadr has come to the political table to force change rather than using military force to have an impact. Sources say an even more extreme faction within his militia isn't pleased with this turn of events, and is trying to force the cleric to respond to recent Sunni attacks with more violence.

U.S. officials say they are going to watch those member of the Mahdi army left behind in Baghdad. Sources say two scenarios are possible: Either al Sadr will be driven further into extremist mode or he will continue going forward with the political process.
