Loving Children or Estranged Vultures? Or One Good Friend?

By Matthew Bailey and an associate - NewsSpoiler.com

John David Smith of California has filed court documents for guardianship of his father Bob Smith whom lives in Van, Texas in a Tyler, Texas court. If the document's are authorized by the county, it will allow John Smith to take control of the affair's of Bob Smith including health and finance. This will allow John free rule over Bob's daily routine as well. John Smith is believed to hold some sort of residents in San Diego, California, Bullard, Texas, and Mexico. John Smith is said to be in the United States Navy.

Bob is expressed saying that he does not want his son to have guardianship. Even as Bob turned 81 in June, he has a strong mind. The only problems that he has is from his hip and knee. Bob has not taken nor does he want to take prescription medicines unless it is critical that he needs them. Bob takes an occasional aspirin, and will have a daily vitamin.

John, like his sibling sister Susan Smith Burk whom lives 150 yards from her Father has not been to visit nor to check up on Bob nor Valta or up until she died at a near 100 years of age for a known 6 years. Susan is said to be some sort of hospital employee at a local hospital in Tyler, Texas. The only time that Susan has seen Bob is at the hospital where she employed and is expected to go to there side by her colleagues. Susan lives in a brick house on the hill overlooking her father's at least 5 decade old house and has seemed not to have any kind of gumption to go down there to see her father.

Valta Fae Smith died at the Van Health Care nursing home located in Van, Texas after only being there for two months. Valta was born in Wisdom Temple near Pruit, Texas. Valta was a Christian that lived and went to Church of Christ located in Jamestown, Texas and like Wisdom, Temple is or was a small community in between Van and Mineola, Texas or Lyndale or Grand Saline, Texas.

While the 6 years has passed that Susan and John have not had anything to do with Bob and Valta, Matthew Bailey (34) has been the caretaker of Valta up until two months before her death and is currently caring for Bob. Matthew cooks, cleans, pays the bills and everything else that comes to running the house. Matthew says, "I work really hard to make sure that Bob get's everything that he needs." with his head held high. He goes on to say, "Bob is like a father to me, and I am like a son. I lost my Father in 1991 and my Mother in 1996 and I could not believe that those two had been abandoned by his children.", and then his head slumps down for a moment.

Matthew started helping Bob and Valta by going over to their house everyday with meals for them to eat or cooking them the while he had been there daily. As time went by, Bob had lost strength in his knees and hip and was having trouble caring for his mother as he did before and had taken Valta to the nursing home to be cared for. Matthew then quit his job at the local hardware store to take care of Bob and Valta full time so that Valta could leave the nursing home to return home to, and near where she has lived all of her life. For 4 to 5 years, Matthew had been the caretaker for Bob and Valta.

Matthew has cooked three meals a day for two people for 3 to 4 years until Valta had died and then 3 meals a day for the remainder of the time to the current time. Matthew does all of the house cleaning and as a bachelor is not perfect at that but all of the clothing stays clean. Valta and Bob have had good hygiene and are or were bathed on a regular basis. These tasks are hard for just one man to do for one elderly person much less to do for two elderly person's.

Matthew also has taken care of the finances where he was able. He has paid hospital bills, eye doctor bills, electric, phone, water and food bills. Matthew went to the bank to get money to pays taxes on Bob's land after finding out that Bob had not paid the taxes for three years and was given a check for the taxes in one county that Bob owed taxes to and immediately posted it to the tax office in Canton, Texas the county seat of Van Zandt County. After posting the check to the tax office in Canton, Texas, Matthew then tried to do the same for the taxes for Smith County a joining county of Van Zandt County in Texas. The bank denied Matthew a check or the funds to cover the taxes owed in Smith County Texas and then cancelled the already posted check for the taxes in Van Zandt and then alerted the local Adult Protection Agency for no known reason and claimed fraud on Matthew's part. Matthew and Bob sense returned to the bank and requested that they unfreeze Bob's account in order to pay the taxes and was turned down. The bank had then called John about there visit. John at this point has no control over Bob's affairs. Bob feels as though the bank has invaded his privacy in doing this. He says that there is no reason that John should have known about his visit to the bank. John called on the phone three times and left one sarcastic message on a voice mail.

The adult protection agency has been to the residents 2 times in the past five years and have not founded any wrong doing. The Smith County Sheriff's department has been out to the resident's to check in on Bob and Valta after John David Smith came visited the residents for a brief time early one day while Bob and Valta were sleeping and have not been awake that day. Matthew says that day John came in and looked in at Bob while he slept and yelled "Hey Bob, how's it going?" Bob said, "Ok, how're yall?" and then he shut the door with out saying anything. Then John walked out of the house. Later that morning the Sheriff came in to check on Bob and Valta and just left after telling them that John had called them to check on Bob and Valta with no known founded reason.

Matthew has power of attorney of finance and health for Bob and has not been notified of anything but the guardianship summons to Bob. Matthew says that it seems that John and Susan are a couple of Vultures just hovering over Bob like he's going to die soon and are waiting to feed on their father. "It is sickening! Don't you think?" He say's, "I would feel allot different about them if I had not been here for all of these years with out John or Susan showing any type of real concern about their Father or Grandmother." with his head moving from the left to right in disgust. "I paused most everything in my life to help Bob and Granny. All I want or wanted is for those two elderly people to have what they needed and wanted, just like I would have my parents." Matthew said and goes on to say "I do not know what those two are up to but I am worried that it is bad, what ever it is. I just know that they are going to try and get rid of me and then put Bob in the nursing home where he does not want to be." while scratching his head.

Bob is planning on telling the Judge in Smith County that he does not want John to have Guardianship in court on Monday the 28th of July 2008. He has no lawyer at this time as his finances that he could use for that and his taxes are frozen at the Kelly Credit Union in Tyler. Privacy rights have been broken numerous times. We have attempted to explain what is going on here the best we know how. If you have any questions or concerns about this you may call toll free at 1-866-910-4338. You may post your comments here.

South African World Cup 2010 Health Care Trade

Funds for two hospitals in South Africa to be built have been diverted for building new football stadiums and refurbishing existing ones for the 2010 world cup. It is also reported that the budget for the project is already been surpassed by hundreds of millions of dollars.

What in the world are these people thinking? The continent of Africa as a whole can hardly function. People of Africa are in poverty, live in slums, and some are have bad health care. Africans are going to have to pay for this. People are going to ultimately die for other people to be comfortable in new soccer (football) stadiums.

What is your opinion on the 2010 World Cup and South African health care?

We do have great health care in the East Texas area! But you better get ready to pay for it!!! You'll get really sick when you see the bill!!
I have a job that offers Health care benefits, but I can't afford it. Every two weeks for me alone it would cost $224.00 that is $448.00 per month! This is CRAZY! If I get sick I am just out of luck. That just makes me SICK

Health Care Here

Health care here where I am is pretty good. I mean, if I get hurt or become sick, I am able to rely on the emergency room and there are allot of small clinics around. All of my life I have seen medical transport vehicles (ambulances) parked in locations so that they could reach any emergency in a timely fashion, now there are the small clinics owned by the hospitals that once sent their medical transport vehicles (ambulances) out to wait on emergencies in certain areas. Great health care here.
