Secretary of State Hillary Clinton - Wrong On Mexican Drug War
Friday, March 27th, 2009By: Matthew Bailey
On Wednesday 03/25/2009, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had talks Mexican government officials for a lengthy amount of time after she launched a 2 day visit to Mexico. After which, Clinton repeatedly laid claims that the U.S. gun sales and it’s citizens drug use for fueling a deadly wave of violence that has swept over Mexico and alarmed politicians in U.S. border states. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has opened a pandora’s box of liability and/or other types lawsuits and more massive expenditures when charging the United States and it’s citizens with responsibility for these Mexican Drug Wars when Mexico it’s self is to blame for all of the violence, drug traffic and the illegal gun trade. Mexico has had a real problem with corruption for the last few decades and it has gotten worse in the last decade during the Bush administration. In those decades Mexican authorities have condoned corruption and therefore the trafficking of guns, drugs and human trafficking whether it be just crossing the border or corrupt police covertly shipping drugs across the border.
”The criminals and kingpins spreading violence are trying to corrode the foundations of law, order, friendship and trust between us and that support our continent,” Clinton said. “They will fail.” But, what Clinton failed to say is the criminals will succeed in overtaking government authorities with corruption as proved through history.
Mexican President Felipe Calderon launched a military crackdown on drug gangs just days after taking office in December 2006. Since then more than 6,300 people have been killed in related violence and about 50,000 troops are patrolling deserts and city streets, searching cars for drugs at highway checkpoints and disarming corrupt local police.
Look at the last few decades of Mexican history to see the real rift in the U.S. and Mexican relationship. You’ll see that the Mexican government has been most irresponsible, and is to blame for the Mexican Drug Wars, not it’s Northern Neighbors.
There has been a loud out cry for the retraction of the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton statements. As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had not been taking in the full value of the situation.
Yes, America does have a drug problem… on the consumer end. And our demand sends Mexican drug suppliers into a frenzy. That is their civil unrest, their lack of enforcement from local government. Our addicts are not killing their people. There has not been any rials over drug users killing people lately, but when they take that track then you will hear about it to no end.
As far as the weapons making their way into Mexico, these are military grade weapons not available to you or me. If they are originating in this country (which I seriously doubt), they are coming from sources not available to the general public and that would be cause for serious concern if they are coming from the inside of the U.S. or from elsewhere.
